On November 9, professor Malik Rahmanov, Head of the Optics and Nanophotonics Laboratory at the University of Texas at Brownsville visited Voronezh State University. He had a meeting with the VSU senior officers: Elena Chupandina, First Vice Rector – Vice Rector for Academic Affairs; Oleg Belenov, Vice-Rector (Economic Development and International Cooperation); Anatoly Bobreshov, Head of the Faculty of Physics, and Oleg Ovchinnikov, Head of the Department of Optics and Spectroscopy.
They discussed the possible areas for collaboration, particularly the joint master's programme in optics and nanophotonics, as well as organisational issues.
– We are interested in collaborating with the University of Texas as well as in improving the skills and knowledge of our students, and promoting international contacts, – sad Elena Chupandina.
– We will be glad to welcome your students to our University. We've been collaborating with many foreign universities and scientific schools, – said Malik Rahmanov.
Professor Rahmanov stated that the University of Texas was very interested in establishing areas of collaboration with Voronezh State University, particularly in the sphere of optics and nanophotonics. He pointed out that it is vital to develop a joint master's programme and conduct joint research projects.
During his visit professor Rahmanof is giving (on October 10) an open lecture on "Light control methods using optical resonators".
