He welcomed the audience and encouraged everyone to take part in the discussion that followed the lecture.
"I am very glad to be in Voronezh and Voronezh State University in particular. Your university is actively involved in EU-Russia academic exchange and cooperation programmes. At the moment you participate in eight different exchange programmes. We accepted your rector's invitation to visit VSU without delay as your university shows a good example to other universities in Russia and EU countries. You pay the necessary attention to the relations between Russia and the European Union, especially at difficult times such as we are experiencing now" – said his Excellency Vygaudas Ušackas at the opening of his speech.
This is the second visit of his Excellency Vygaudas Ušackas to VSU and he shared his memories of his first visit to our university:
"My current visit to the university can be described both as a visit and as coming back. In 1988 being a student of the law faculty of Vilnius State University I took part in a conference on criminal procedure which was held at your university. Those years I studied law reading books written by your professors. You had already remarkable scientific schools at that time".
After that his Excellency Vygaudas Ušackas proceeded to give his lecture. He shared his vision of the current Russia – EU relations, discussed the causes and possible solutions to the existing crisis. After the lecture Ambassador, Head of the Delegation of the European Union, his Excellency Vygaudas Ušackas answered questions from the audience.
