This year, the Contemporary Scientific Film Festival, supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, starts a large-scale educational project in Russian universities – Scientific Film Days. Out of the 150 applications from universities and various cultural venues all over the country, 114 participants from 63 Russian cities and towns were selected. Among them are two universities located in Voronezh – Voronezh State University and Voronezh State University of Engineering Technologies.
The selection committee of the Contemporary Scientific Film Festival prepares the movie programme and hands it over to universities, which then choose the films to be shown. The students themselves become full-fledged organizers of the event: they gather the audience, demonstrate the films, and invite experts to take part in the discussions. Over 20 universities from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Kazan, Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg, Samara, and other cities, have joined the project.
In Voronezh State University, the festival is scheduled to start in November. The Voronezh audience will watch "Singularity", "Alice Cares", "The Planet", "Particle Fever", and "Love & Engineering". Each of the movies will then be discussed with an expert.
The Scientific Film Days is an open educational project which presents the most interesting full-length documentaries about science filmed all over the world in the last five years. This project is aimed at introducing the audience to contemporary scientific films, stirring interest in science, and inspiring people to do their own research.
