From 1 to 3 October, a delegation from the Faculty of International Relations from Voronezh State University took part in the Second International Forum "Russia and Ibero-America in the Globalized World: History and Modernity", which was held in Saint Petersburg State University. VSU was represented by fourth year students of the Faculty of International Relations – Marina Chibizova and Julia Golotvina.
The event was devoted to the problems arising in the course of economic and political development of the countries of Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula; the relationships between Russia and Ibero-America in economics, investments, culture, and information security; the history and political trends in Ibero-American countries, as well as the prospects for BRICS and integration associations in Latin America. A competition was held among the young scholars from Latin America within the framework of the competition. Marina Chibizova's article "Russia's foreign policy through the prism of Argentinian mass media" was sixth in the competition.
– This work attracted the attention of the selection committee due to the fact that it focuses on the relationships between Russia and its strategic partner in Latin America – Argentina. Amidst the escalation of tensions between Russia and the G-7, the issues of collaboration between Russia and Argentina, and Latin America as a whole, are becoming increasingly relevant. Therefore, in the current context, the development of solid commercial and industrial, military and political, academic, and tourist ties is one of the central areas of focus in both countries' foreign policies. For us, the forum proved to be very informative, since it gave us an opportunity to listen to outstanding political and community leaders of Latin America, as well as well-known Russian and international specialists. Taking part in the forum gave us an amazing chance to get first-hand knowledge that will assist us in further research, says Marina Chibizova.
