Between November 6th and 14th, researchers of VSU and the Sichuan Natural Resources Research Institute (SPINRS) took part in an expedition to eastern Tibet, as well as the valleys of rivers Min Jiang, Yangtze and Qini. The expedition focused on two major problems – desert invasion of the Tibetan Plateau and invasive plants.
This was the third in a series of such expeditions starting from November 2014. Since then, the parties have done a lot in the course of joint research. 12 leading VSU specialists in ecology, botany, microbiology, geology, soil studies, invasion biology, and biogeography have already visited SPINRS, determining the areas of prospective partnership and joint research. The major areas are: desert invasion of high mountain pastures, phytoinvasions, and partnership between the botanical gardens of VSU and Emeishan.
The next stage of our partnership with China will be joint work in all three areas with exchange programmes enhancing the effectiveness of this work.
