New results of an International ranking system Webometrics Ranking of World Universities published twice a year have been announced. Voronezh State University has moved up by 94 positions in 6 months. It has advanced to 1521st position among the world's educational centres.
The ranking system analysed 25 000 world's universities, including 343 Russian institutions that appeared in the ranking for the first time. VSU takes the 18th position among Russian Universities included in the list. The University has been demonstrating strong and positive dynamics in promoting its image online.
Webometrics ranking, started in 2006, analyses University's web-sites. It is based on a number of criteria where the key criterion is the online presence of the University's educational and research activity. Ranking indicators measure volume, visibility and popularity of University's web-site pages. Special attention is paid to information representing research results published online. The project is aimed at encouraging the University's web-site publications targeting a wide audience and comprehensive evaluation of the University's online presence.
Webometrics' wide coverage of the world's institutions of higher education and transparency of its results improve Universities' web presence and give an overview of the educational system based not only on leading institutions but on all the institutions it is comprised of.
