On 10th March, the Voronezh region Sports Centre saw the opening ceremony of the VSU Indoor Sports Tourism Championship. Among the participants were students from other Voronezh universities and pupils form Gymnasium #1 in Kalach, and Podgornoe School #1.
The championship included both individual and group contests. The second-class distance included ascending a slope crossing, rappelling, wall-climbing, vertical ascent using trolley wire, and rope sliding. The total distance was 83.6 meters, with the elevation changes up to 23.4 meters.
The winner – Alexander Masyukovin, a student at Voronezh State Agricultural University – covered the distance in 1 minute 48 seconds. Yevgeny Tischyuk, Head of the VSU sports tourism centre "Belaya Gora" came second (2 min. 25 sec.). VSU representatives Sergey Pavlov and Yevgeny Tischyuk were third in the group contest.
– This was the first time VSU has held such an event, and we are eager to promote sports tourism in our university and in the city. We are now working on the possibility of holding the Regional Championship, and even the Central Federal District Championship, – said Yevgeny Tischyuk, the organiser and the chief referee of the Championship.
