VSU holds Russian and Chinese rubber forum

On 22nd April, a delegation of representatives of industrial enterprises of Boye, province Hebei (China) visited Voronezh State University. The delegation comprised 13 top managers of large rubber production enterprises and was headed by the chairman of the Boye Rubber Industry Association Mr. Wang Dean. The goal of the visit was to discuss possibilities of cooperation with VSU and rubber industry enterprises of Voronezh region.

'Today visit is of great importance for our university and the region as a whole. I have been to China several times. The Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences has honoured VSU for contributing to development of oriental studies. VSU has had strong ties with Chinese organisations. Since 2002, the university has concluded agreements for cooperation with over 10 Chinese universities and over 2,000 leading specialists from different provinces of China have done internships in our university. And it is not for nothing that in 2010 at the Global forum of international research and internships held in Shenzhen, VSU was acknowledged as the best university centre of internships for foreign specialists. I am sure that today’s meeting will be highly beneficial for development of Russian and Chinese cooperation in the rubber industry. Production of butadiene and rubber is a very important industrial issue today and Voronezh has the technologies and experience necessary for solving this problem,' said the Rector of Voronezh State University Dmitry Endovitskyy.

'Our association has been operating for over 30 years, it includes 90 enterprises and we are one of the largest rubber producers in China. We will be very happy to cooperate with Voronezh enterprises and VSU scientists because the university is a source of innovations and break-through projects,' responded the chairman of the Boye Rubber Industry Association Mr. Wang Dean.

During the visit, the university guests were introduced to representatives of Voronezh region authorities - the Head of Voronezh administration Aleksandr Gusev, the Head of the Department of Economic Development Anatoliy Bukreyev, and top managers of large enterprises of Voronezh region: Voronezh branch of Synthetic Rubber Research Institute, OAO Voronezhsyntezkauchuk, Voronezh tyre plant, OAO Minudobreniya.

'We are very glad to welcome you to Voronezh. Our countries have been involved in very active economic cooperation and I hope that your visit will favour its development and strengthening,' Aleksandr Gusev welcomed the Chinese delegation.

'Voronezh region is a region with a steadily developing economy and very high scientific and educational potential. The regional government has created favourable investment and business conditions. This provides a lot of possibilities for prolific cooperation,' said Anatoliy Bukreyev.

VSU Rector Dmitry Endovitskyy gave a presentation on the history of Voronezh State University, talked about the university structure and VSU positions in international rankings, its faculties, and work implemented by its teaching staff.

After the official part of the visit the foreign delegation visited the university's scientific laboratories: Department of High Molecular Compounds and Colloids, the laboratory of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, and the Centre for Collective Use of Scientific Equipment.
