On 19 May, the Final of the Russian Students' Spring Festival was held in Vladivostok with about 2 thousand participants from 60 regions of Russia. The jury consisted of Russian celebrities such as Ilya Lagutenko, lead singer of the band Mumiy Troll, Yana Churikova, the CEO of MTV-Russia, actor Nikita Vysotsky, choreographer Yegor Druzhinin, film-director Boris Grachevsky, etc. The Final lasted 6 days and included competitions in music, theatre, dancing, special genres, regional programmes, and journalism.
VSU students showed a great performance at the Festival. Some of them became prize-winners. The dancing performance by «Top Rate» team was the best in the nomination "Freestyle – Groups". VSU group "Maximum" came second in the nomination "Dance-pop – Groups", while the dancing performance by Alexey Goncharov, Konstantin Gornostayev, Maria Konovalova, and Kateline Tsobor came third in the nomination "Modern dancing – Small Forms". All the dancing performances of VSU teams were directed by Alexey Goncharov, master's degree student of the Faculty of Applied Mathematica and Mechanics.
– “Voronezh was represented at the Festival for the fourth time. Of course, we had some minor success in Chelyabinsk, Ulianovsk, and Toliatti, but this is the first time we have archived such a great success, and practically every performance was welcomed by the jury. Directed by Alexey Goncharov, VSU dancing groups have acquired more titles and awards than anybody in the University. They were third in 2013, second in 2014, and took the whole set of prizes in 2015. I am really proud of the guys. I nearly cried watching them. It was wonderful to hear the audience explode with cheers and applause. And there was noone from Voronezh there. Many people came after the performance to thank us for the emotions and feelings. We are proud of our winners!” – said Alexandra Nazarova, Head of the Student Affairs and Social Development Department at VSU.
– “We've long been looking forward to becoming winners at the Festival. And I'm glad that the jury praised our performances so high. It means that all the hard work was worth it. And we sure will do our best to go further and reach new records” – said Alexey Goncharov.
The jury of the dancing competitions praise highly the choreography, as well as the director's work.
– “All the dancers were really passionate, they literally lived the dance, not merely did what they had learned” – said Zarina Khubaeva, a jury member.
Congratulations to the winners!
