The international information group Interfaks and the radio station Ekho Moskvy have published the sixth annual national ranking of universities for the 2014/2015 academic year. Voronezh State University has become one of the best Russian universities without the status of a Federal or a Research university and took the 22nd position.
The following six main criteria were used to rank 208 universities: educational activity, research activity, social environment, internationalization or international activity, university brand, and innovations and entrepreneurial activity.
The experts gave a high mark for the university's research activity (VSU took the 18th position in this category), education (the 19th position), and internationalization and innovation activity (the 23rd and the 25th positions respectively).
'I am very pleased that VSU has taken the 22nd position in the national ranking of universities. Taking into consideration the fact that there are over 1,000 universities in Russia, it is a very good result which means that our university has a lot of potential and resources. Interfaks ranking is a guiding landmark for many prospective students and their parents. I am especially pleased with the university's good results in international activity as it is of high importance now just before the new stage of the competition between universities for support in international competition starts,' said the Rector of VSU professor Dmitry Endovitsky.
