Voronezh State University has become one of 27 Russian universities included in the international Round University Ranking (RUR). VSU took the 18th place among Russian higher education institutions included in the ranking. Altogether 750 universities from 76 countries were ranked.
The ranking of education institutions is done according to 20 different indicators united in four groups:
- teaching quality;
- research quality;
- international diversity;
- financial sustainability.
RUR was created in September 2013 by an independent research group "Round University Ranking".
Moreover, VSU was included in the A+ category of Academic Ranking of World Universities-European Standard ARES-2015 published by the European Scientific-Industrial Chamber.
In the ranking, there were three grade categories:
- the A category (AAA, AA+, AА, А+, А) – high quality performance: a high level of teaching, research, and employers' demand for graduates;
- the B category (BBB+, BBB, BB+, BB, B+, B) – good quality performance: a sufficient level of teaching, research, and employers' demand for graduates;
- the C category (CCC+, CCC, CC+, CC, C+, C) – adequate quality performance: a satisfactory level of teaching, research, and employers' demand for graduates.
The ranking is aimed at evaluating universities' performance in providing relevant knowledge, participating in research activities, and interacting with potential employers. Its key criteria include a number of indicators such as research activities, international cooperation, employers' demand for graduates, the level of academic staff advanced training, international recognition of academic staff, membership in recognised European academies, the university's contribution to the region, use of innovative technologies, and informational support of the teaching process.
