On 11th and 12th September, the Internet forum "RIF–Voronezh 2015" was held in Voronezh. This year our university was among its educational partners. Over 3,000 people visited the event that had five sections and 93 speakers including representatives of the leading IT companies, popular bloggers, and IT experts. The representatives of Voronezh State University spent two days at the forum where they gave lectures and demonstrated their achievements in Robotics.
The Dean of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics Aleksandr Shashkin who was among the speakers of the educational section of the forum gave a talk called "High-quality IT education as a start of a successful career". Aleksandr Shashkin shared the Faculty's experience in young IT specialists training.
The participants of the forum had a chance to visit the exhibition of multicopters presented by the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics and watch a demonstrative launch of a hexacopter – a radio-controlled aircraft that is equipped with a camera and can fly long distances. The younger audience of the forum was entertained by a show of scientific experiments performed by the university's team of young researchers Creative Science. They also enjoyed the exhibition of robotics for children presented by our partner – the Experimental Technical School.
However, our university did not only participate in the educational section of the forum – it was also among the finalists chosen for the Internet award for regional Internet achievements "RIF–Voronezh 2015". This year the award had nine nominations, excluding special nominations founded by the organisers of the forum.
The website of the Faculty of Computer Sciences (developed by a student of the Faculty of Computer Sciences Dmitry Ruban) was among six finalists in the nomination "The best corporate website". Over 100 projects were submitted for the nomination and the finalists were chosen as follows: three projects were voted for by the participants of the forum and three projects were selected by the judges who assessed the quality of the website. The website of the Faculty of Computer Sciences was one of the three projects chosen by the judges. High opinion of experts indicated the high level of IT education that our university provides.
Another award winner in the nomination "The best original project" was the website of the Voronezh "Theatre of Equals" – the first inclusive cultural project in the Central Black Soil Region that has Voronezh State University among its organisers.
Our warmest congratulations to the finalist of the Internet award and good luck!
