On 7 October, the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of Voronezh State University hosted a workshop “Discussion of Social and Professional Aspects of the Educational Module Set Used to Train Specialists in the Area of Screening Non-Clinical Study of Medicinal Products”. The workshop was held within the framework of the state contract for the activity “Development of New Academic Programmes and Educational Modules for Profession-Oriented Institutions of Higher Education and Secondary Educational Institutions” of the federal target programme “Development of the Pharmaceutical and the Medical Industries of the Russian Federation for the Period up to the Year 2020 and further on”. The contract was concluded according to the decision taken by the jury for the open competitions that were held in 2015 by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

Over 60 people took part in the event, including lecturers from universities of Voronezh and the Voronezh region, representatives of higher educational institutions, and Russian manufacturers of pharmaceutical products. The programme of the workshop and the list of participants was approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
The participants of the event were given a presentation of the educational module set for master’s programmes in Biology – the profile “Screening Non-Clinical Study of Medicinal Products” which was prepared by a team of lecturers of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences and the Faculty of Pharmaceutics of Voronezh State University. The workshop included discussions about the ways to improve higher professional education, organisational issues of non-clinical studies, and the training of specialists in the above-mentioned area. As a result, the participants of the event prepared suggestions and recommendations for revision and approval of the developed educational modules.
