Voronezh Chamber Theatre receives 11 nominations for the Golden Mask National Theatre Award

On 1 November, the nominees for the National Theatre Award “Golden Mask – 2016” were announced. Among the contenders were performances from the Voronezh Chamber Theatre. The theatre received 11 nominations for the Golden Mask Award. Two plays “Uncle Vanya” and “ Ak and mankind” competed for first place.

“Uncle Vanya” was nominated for: “Drama – Best Small Scale Production”, “Best Director”, “Best Designer”, “Best Light Designer”, “Best Actress”, and “Best Actor” and the play “Ak and mankind” got the following nominations: “Drama – Best Small Scale Production”, “Best Director”, “Best Costume Designer”, and “Best Supporting Actress” (Anastasia Maizinger). The final decision will be made by a jury headed by Alena Karas – a theatre critic who is an Associate Professor from the Department of History of Russian Theatre at the Russian University of Theatre Arts.

The winners of the prestigious award will be announced in April 2017. The 23rd Golden Mask festival will be held in March and April 2017 in Moscow. The award ceremony will take place in K.S. Stanislavsky and V.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Musical Theatre on 19 April.
