Our students to take part in the semi-final of the Programming World Championship

In the end of October, the quarter-final of the programming (ACM) world championship for student’s teams took place at Chernyshevsky Saratov National Research University. 73 teams from the Southern subregion of Russia competed in the event. Voronezh State University was represented by six teams which included students of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics and the Faculty of Computer Sciences. In accordance with the ACT format, each team, consisting of three participants, was challenged to solve 12 problems in five hours. All the tasks were described in English.

The team that comprised of a master’s student from the Faculty of Computer Sciences, Mikhail Zemlyanukhin, a master’s student from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics, Anna Skobaneva, and a student of the Faculty of Computer Sciences, Alexandr Nogikh, received the second degree diploma. The third degree diploma was awarded to the team of master’s students of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics, Sergey Minayev, Nikolay Perunov, and Ilia Kuznetsov. The third degree diploma was given to two more university teams: a team of first and second year students of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics, Alexey Zolotukhin, Yaroslav Tishin, and Viktor Kiselev and students of the Faculty of Computer Sciences, Alexandr Kolesov, Yana Poluk, and Denis Dushkin.

Two teams qualified for the semi-final of the programming world championship: the teams of Mikhail Zemlyanukhin and Sergey Minaev. The semi-finals will take place at the beginning of December in Saint Petersburg, the centre of the North-East European Region of the championship.
