During the fist days of November, the Faculty of Chemistry at Voronezh State University had guests, schoolchildren and teachers from Voronezh and the Voronezh region.
The pupils of the 7–11 grades took part in a quest called “X files” which allowed them to learn more about chemical material science. They also listened to popular science stories and participated in chemical quizzes “Svoja Igra” (an adaptation of"Jeopardy") and “Young alchemist” which had been prepared by undergraduate and postgraduate students and lecturers of the Faculty of Chemistry. The event also included a round table discussion during which school teachers shared their experience and discussed issues related to the State Exam in Chemistry with the dean and academic staff of the Faculty of Chemistry.
These traditional events for high school students held at the Faculty of Chemistry during school holidays are a wonderful opportunity for pupils to learn a lot of new and interesting things, to show their knowledge in chemistry, and to communicate informally with the academic staff and undergraduate and postgraduate students of the faculty. What is more, the schoolchildren also have the chance to enter the world of chemical experiments.
