In November, director of the Centre for International Projects and Programmes, Alla Akulshina, visited Brussels within the framework of the EU Visitors Programme. The programme was organised by the European Parliament and the European Commission. Only four participants from Russia can take part in this programme each year. The participants represent legislative and executive state organizations, as well as research and educational institutions.
In 2016, following the results of the competition held by the European Commission, Alla Akulshina was appointed as a member of the EU Visitors Programme. The programme included visits to several of the European Commission’s Directorates-General - the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, Directorate-General for Environment, Directorate-General for Education and Culture – as well as Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency. The programme’s participants also visited the European Parliament, the Committee on Culture and Education, the European Committee of the Regions, and the European Parliamentary Library. At meetings with the representatives of Directorates-General that are coordinating partnership programmes with Russia, Alla Akulshina talked about VSU’s experience in implementing European projects. Prospective projects, their themes, and implementation strategies were also discussed.
Voronezh State University is one of the leading universities in Russia by the number of its international projects supported by such EU programmes. Currently, the university is running 24 projects, and presents over 30 projects at various competitions each year.
Participants also discussed partnership opportunities between Russia, the EU, and the European External Action Service (EEAS).
At the end, Alla Akulshina was awarded a certificate as an expert in European politics, signed by the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the Vice President of the European Parliament.
