On 29 January, the official awards ceremony of the Zolotoye Pero Rossii (Golden Pen of Russia) took place in Moscow. The award is received as a result of the contest held by the Union of Journalists of the Russian Federation. Among the laureates of the prestigious professional award was a reporter of the newspaper "Voronezhsky kuriyer", a master's degree student of the Faculty of Journalism of Voronezh State University Elena Turina.
Elena received her prize in the nomination “Start” for her professional achievements in 2015: victories in federal, regional, municipal and student competitions. The award was handed to Elena by the secretary of the Union of Journalists of Russia Roman Serebryanny.
‘Such a reward by the professional community encourages you to work even harder. And it’s great that you, a 21 year old provincial girl can be at the same stage with masters of the word. I realise that I wouldn’t have received this award but for my mentors who have been nourishing me. First of all it is the lecturers of the Faculty of Journalism of VSU and journalists of the newspaper "Voronezhsky kuriyer",’ said Elena Turina.
Golden Pen of Russia is an annual award by the Union of Journalists of Russia awarded to individual writers and teams of writers in 15 nominations. This year it celebrates its 20th anniversary.
