Between 28 and 30 January, the Faculty of Philology held IV International Research and Methodology Conference – Issues of Philology for Foreign Students – supported by the Russkiy Mir Foundation. Over 100 representatives from 17 countries took part in the event: Algeria, Angola, Hungary, Vietnam, China, Congo, the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, Russia, the Republic of Belarus, the USA, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Senegal, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Equatorial Guinea.
The Dean of the Faculty of Philology professor Olga Berdnikova addressed the participants of the conference with the words of welcome.
The plenary meeting saw reports of the Director of the Institute of Slavic Studies at the University of Debrecen József Goretity, PhD in Philology ( Debrecen, Hungary), the Head of the Department of the Russian Language of Cheikh Anta Diop University Dr Fall Sidy Khoya (Dakar, Senegal), the Dean of the Faculty of Philology of Voronezh State University professor Olga Berdnikova, the Head of the Department of the Russian language for international students of the Institute of International Education of Voronezh State University professor Viktor Koprov, and the Head of the Department of Slavic Philology of the Faculty of Philology of Voronezh State University professor Gennady Kovalyev.
During the first day of the conference international students of Voronezh universities organised a cultural event and presented national traditions, music, dances and songs to the participants of the conference. VSU folk music group Terem opened the event.
During the second day, the conference included the following sessions: Methodology and Methods of Teaching Foreign Students: the System of the Russian Language: Contemporary Issues of Teaching Foreign Students; Text and Discourse and Foreign Audience; Russian as a Speciality Language: Issues of Intercultural Communication; and Cultural Linguistics.
The results of the conference have been published in the proceedings of the conference.
