Spanish research group Cybermetrics Lab has published the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities assessing the universities’ performance according to their web presence and link visibility. In the 2016 Rankings we are in 1905th place in the list of world universities (last year it was 2162th) and 20th among the universities in Russia (last year we were the 24th).
The Ranking is published twice a year (in January and July) and provides Web indicators for more than 12,000 universities worldwide. The methodology is based on a composite indicator: visibility (the number of links from other sources), presence (total number of web pages, according to Google), excellence (the Scimago data on the most cited papers) and openness (total number of pdf files according to Google).
The Ranking started in 2006 and is now the largest academic ranking of Higher Education Institutions. The aim of the Ranking is to promote academic web presence and increase the transfer of scientific and cultural knowledge generated by the universities to the whole of Society.
