Our students are winners of the Volga Region Programming Championship

Between 31st March and 3rd April, Korolev Samara Aerospace University held VI Volga Region Open Student Programming Championship. 73 teams from different regions of Russia took part in the event. Voronezh State University was represented by five teams which included students from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics and the Faculty of Computer Sciences.

Traditionally, the Championship was an ACM competition: each team consisting of three participants was challenged to solve 12 problems in five hours. The first degree certificate was awarded to the team of postgraduate students of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics Sergei Babkin and Yulia Tretiakova and an undergraduate student of the Faculty of Computer Sciences Mikhail Zemlyanukhin. The team of students from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics Ilia Kuznetsov, Renata Toktar, and Artem Pivovarov received the second degree diploma. The third degree diploma was awarded to two university teams: A team of postgraduate students from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics Sergei Minaev, Anna Skobaneva, and Nikolay Perunov and a team of students from the Faculty of Computer Sciences Alexandr Kolesov, Lubov Lesnykh, and Denis Dushkin.

This year the Championship organisers introduced a non-competition contest Code Game Challenge: each team had to develop a program that describes the strategy of a screen drawing object. After that all the participants of the contest could watch the battle of these objects on a big screen. The team of Sergey Babkin, Yulia Tretiakova, and Mikhail Zemlyanikhin was the overall winner of the contest. The second prize was awarded to Alexandr Kolesov, Lubov Lesnykh, and Denis Dushkin.
