On 17 April, a Parliamentary Debate Tournament between Voronezh universities was held at the Faculty of History. Eight teams representing different Voronezh universities took part in the event. The competition was organised by the Chernozemie Debate Club and the Faculty of History. The judges of the tournament were participants of the Moscow State University Debate Club, finalists and winners of national and international tournaments, Anna Litovchenko and Ilia Lapatin.
Debates are an intellectual game. Each team consists of two players whose task is to prepare a speech on a given topic within 15 minutes so as to prove their opinion to their opponents. The position of each team (for or against) is also predetermined, and not chosen by the players themselves. The tournament includes three qualifying rounds and the final. The winner of the event was the team comprising Olga Kolaeva and Alexandre Kovalev who represented Voronezh Institute of the Federal Penitentiary Service. A student of Voronezh State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Violetta Priz, was recognized as the best speaker of the tournament.
Among the finalists of the tournament were:
- Violetta Priz (Voronezh State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering) and Anna Kolosova (school № 8)
- Ilia Obukhov (Voronezh Institute of the Federal Penitentiary Service) and Ivan Seleznev (Voronezh State University)
- Anastasia Andreyeva and Olesya Malygina (Voronezh Economics and Law Institute)
