On 23 April, the project of Voronezh State University "Saturday University" presented a unique lecture "Food: from simple to complicated" by Tatian Sanina, the General Director of Biruch-NT Innovation Centre (R&D Centre for the Group of Companies EFKO). The lecture was dedicated to the description of yoghurt ingredients, the manufacturing cycles used to produce this dairy product, and some of the marketing secrets. The audience learnt the difference between vegetable and animal fats, the ideal composition of mayonnaise and the influence of the formula on the quality of the product. At the end of the lecture, the audience had a chance to observe the process of preparing mayonnaise using equipment provided by the EFKO. They could also taste the product that had just been produced. The lecture lasted over 2 hours and held the interest of the audience that was comprised of pupils who came to the main building of Voronezh State University and pupils of school №9 of Rossosh who watched the lecture broadcast at their school.
The speaker gave scientifically grounded answers to many questions that arise every day when we choose food products. This lecture is also a good example of how public lecturers by representatives of the business community can ingrain a scientific approach to everyday issues.
The lectures take place at 15:00 in room 439 of the main building of Voronezh State University. The lectures are open to pupils of 8th–11th forms and intellectually curious adults.
