On 18 May, International Museum Day is celebrated. This holiday goes back to 1978 when it was officially established during a meeting of the International Museum Council. Today, the holiday is celebrated in 150 countries, and it is not surprising – every state has museums that constitute their national assets.
VSU's museums play an important role in university life. They treasure memories of historical events, tell visitors about the wonders of the flora and fauna of the surrounding world, and opens a doorway to the past. Many museum exhibits were obtained as a result of exchange with other Russian museums or were presented by individual collectors. The staff of VSU's museums cherishes the ancient items and bring new collection exhibits from expeditions. This holiday is a wonderful opportunity to thank them for their important and highly valuable work. The funds and the exhibitions of the 11 university museums are constantly growing and can show off interesting, and sometimes unique, collections that are open to all visitors.
VSU's Book Museum has about 60 thousand books. Ancient books tell us about distant times and their artistic finish leave us amazed and proud. They have enduring value for current and future generations.
