On May 14, a workshop “Nanotechnology league – research projects by schoolchildren” was held at VSU within the framework of the research project “Industrial school”. The workshop was organised by Dmitry Zhukalin, researcher at the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the Faculty of Chemistry, with he help of VSU lecturers and students.
Among the participants of the forum were Elena Stolyarova, coordinator of the regional stages of the Chemical Tournament of Russia and senior coordinator of the tournament in St.Petersburg (Saint Petersburg State University), Dmitry Turchen, senior lecturer at VSU’s School of Young Chemists, and member of the organising committee of the Moscow Academic Competition among Schoolchildren (Regional Centre for Students Technical Projects), Anna Gladyshkina, coordinator of the school teams, and teachers from various schools of Voronezh.
The workshop discussed the following topics: “Projects run by schoolchildren”, “Academic competitions among schoolchildren”, and “All-Russian tournaments in Voronezh”. The workshop started with a speech by Ilia Korzhyk, Director of the Regional Centre for Students Technical Projects, which was followed by the winners of the Tournament of Young Naturalists presenting their solutions to some of the tournament’s problems.
“The workshop is a great opportunity to get information about the research projects conducted by schoolchildren. Dmitry Turchen's lecture was very interesting, as well as the discussion of the project assessment criteria and chemistry tournaments, as a new way of working with gifted children. We are grateful to the organisers of the workshop. We had a very good time discussing interesting new ideas”, said Natalia Kopaneva, Associate Professor of the Department of Biology, Chemistry and Ecology of the Lipetsk State Pedagogical University.
