On 27 May, a regular student evening party was held in Voronezh State University. It was organised by the folk music group “Terem” supervised by Galina Khristova. As usual, the party was attended not only by students, but also by University guests including folk culture fans, VSU alumni, and foreign students. All of them came to the party to get acquainted with the traditional way young people used to spend their free time in Russia.
In May, the evening party had a special topic due to the traditions of the national calender: the period following Easter was considered to be the best time for youngsters to hold open air celebrations, dance khorovod (a traditional circle dance), and play games. Those activities were the main focus of the party, so young people together with the “Terem” group sang, danced, and took part in a khorovod. The key goal of such meetings was achieved – the participants of the party became acquainted with national traditions and customs. Evening parties will continue to be held in future, and the next one is planned to be held outside in June.
