On 30 May, international students of Voronezh State University visited Krasnyansky school for children with disabilities as a part of a charity programme run by the Institute of International Education.
VSU students from China, Madagascar, Benin, Angola, Zambia, Turkey, Mali, Indonesia, Montenegro, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Vietnam brought gifts for the children, performed an amusing concert, and told about their countries. The children enjoyed listening to songs, poems and stories of the foreign guests and praised the performers with long-lasting applause. When the international students presented each child with a packet of sweets the audience responded with a loud “Thank you”. The children were very emotional – they hugged their new friends, presented them with handcrafted items, and invited to come and see them again. You could see neither fear, nor shyness in the eyes of the children but rather admiration and joy.
