On September 2nd, a concert by the Voronezh Youth Symphony Orchestra was held at the University Hall to congratulate all VSU employees and students on the beginning of the new academic year.
The audience enjoyed a wonderful music programme of the concert conducted by the Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation, maestro Yury Androsov. The orchestra played marvellous pieces by such composers as Georges Bizet, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Gabriel Fauré, George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, Eduard Artemyev, Jacques Offenbach, Vladimir Cosma, Johann Strauss, and Johannes Brahms. The lead singers were invited from the Voronezh Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
This year the concert also included a surprise by Rector Dmitry Endovisky. He performed together with the orchestra and played Leroy Anderson’s piece “The Typewriter”.
“It is not going to be that simple for you the next year! You’ll have to play a violin concerto,” – joked professor Bronislav Tabachnikov, the concert MS.
The orchestra gave a wonderful performance that filled the audience with positive emotions and energy for another academic year. Ludmila Vladimirova, the chair of the Trade Union Committee of VSU pointed out that our university and Voronezh Youth Symphony Orchestra are connected by long years of friendship. The university's employees and students have been attending concerts at the Philharmonic Hall for many years now.
“This concert by Voronezh Youth Symphony Orchestra was a great opening for the new academic year. It's really nice to see how such concerts are becoming a new tradition for our university. Every new academic year we need to get ready for intensive and hard work, and such events give us the necessary energy and encourage everyone to employ their creativity and talents to the full. I dare say that both the university and the orchestra benefit from such a partnership: our staff and students were delighted to listen to the wonderful music, they applauded, and the musicians felt their emotions and performed at the hight of their talents. We’d like to express our special gratitude to the conductor of the orchestra, the Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation, maestro Yury Androsov, and the director of the orchestra, Vera Guseva, for her great enthusiasm in her work with young people” – said Ludmila Vladimirova.
“There’s no better way to spend a Friday evening than listening to wonderful music played by a great orchestra, especially at the beginning of a new academic year! We also were glad to listen to the singers of the Voronezh Theatre of Opera and Ballet who joined the orchestra for this concert. It was a real delight to listen to such famous arias” – said Irina Yevsyukova, the editor of the “UniverCity” magazine.
