On 7 December, the closing concert of the International Song and Dance Festival took place in the A.L. Durov Circus in Voronezh. The programme of the concert was made up of performances which were selected as a result of two rounds which were held on 2 and 3 December.
The festival is held annually by the VSU International Education Institute and the Department of Culture of the Voronezh government. The motto of the festival is “For international consent. Against racism and violence.”
Before the start, Vice Mayor Nadezhda Savitskaya welcomed the audience on behalf of Voronezh administration:
“It is great that this festival has become a tradition for Voronezh. We see very different people coming to our city, but one thing they have in common – they all like our city. Thank you, our dear guests and students, for choosing Voronezh, our beloved city.”
Nadezhda Savitskaya also thanked the rector of Voronezh Sate University, Dmitry Endovitsky, for supporting the festival for about twenty years.
“A lot of universities in Russia desperately need one thing. And Voronezh has already acquired it. This thing is international friendship. At this concert young people will show us what they would like to tell us. Good luck to our festival”, – said Vladimir Rodionov, Head of the Institute of International Education of Voronezh State University.
Russian artistic teams and performers, as well as international students from Voronezh universities presented their national songs and dances. The performances presented national art from 47 countries. The total number of the participants of the concert was 800.
There was also a display of national handicraft souvenirs and thematic presentations and games in the hall of the circus.
