On 6 April, The Faculty of Philology of Voronezh State University celebrated "Mother Tongue Day". It was organised by international students from different faculties, interns from Sichuan International Studies University and the University of Göttingen, and guests from the Construction Technology Institute of Voronezh State Technical University.
The students read poems in Turkmen, Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai, Arab, Indonesian, German, Farsi, and Lingala. Students from China, Iraq, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Congo, the Dominican Republic, Vietnam, Thailand, and Turkmenistan were happy to speak their native languages and talk about the culture of the respective countries.
The audience was impressed by the music and dance performances that highlighted the differences between cultures of different countries and regions. Indonesian songs and Chinese potpourri touched the hearts of the listeners. Everybody was absolutely fascinated by the Dominican bachata, an Indonesian dance performance, and a Russian dance improvisation. It was a cheerful and memorable festival.
