Between 1 and 5 May, the annual International Week was held at the University of Leon (Spain) and, as usual, welcomed representatives of various European universities. This year among the participants were university representatives from Germany, Italy, Belgium, France, Poland, Bulgaria, Portugal, Turkey, Romania, Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Russia, etc.
Voronezh State University was the only Russian university participating in the event. It was represented by the Vice Rector for Research and Innovations, Vasily Popov, Associate professor at the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology, Olga Abakumova, a leading specialist the Centre for International Academic Mobility of the International Cooperation Department, Natalya Ushakova, and Associate professor at the Faculty of International Relations, Irina Foret. The programme of the event included reports on the development of partnership between universities and promotion of international academic mobility programmes, as well as various workshops, presentations, and master classes in four key areas – economics, philology, biology, and law.
Our delegates delivered their reports on plenary sessions and told the other participants about VSU, its activities, and academic programmes that are taught in English.
Juan Francisco García Marín, the rector of the University of Leon, and Mr. Alvarez, vice rector for international cooperation, pointed to the unique 32-year-long partnership between VSU and the University of Leon. They expressed their hope for further development of this partnership in various areas.
During International Week, our delegates also managed to get in contact with representatives of various European universities and discuss a number of partnership agreements.
