University takes part in the 21st quarter-final of the programming world championship for student’s teams

In mid October, the 21st quarter-final of the programming (ACM) world championship for student’s teams took place at Chernyshevsky Saratov National Research University.

Among teams that had successfully passed the qualifying round were four teams from VSU comprised of graduate and undergraduate students from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics and the Faculty of Computer Sciences. According to the rules of the championship thanks to the success of VSU teams in last year competitions our university had a right to send one more team to participate in the quarter-final this year.

The championship is traditionally held in the АСМ/ICPC format (Association for Computing Machinery / International Collegiate Programming Contest). This year, the team headed by a master's student from the Faculty of Computer Sciences, Alexandre Nogikh, was the most successful. Among other participants of the team were students from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics, Alexey Zolotukhin and Yaroslav Tishin. This team won the right to take part in the semi-final of the world championship which will take place the region "Northern Eurasia" in Saint Petersburg in December. Two more teams also achieved good results: the team of Artem Pivovarov (other team members were students from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics, Lubov Lesnykh and Mikhail Golovay) and the team of Alexadre Kolesov (other team members were students from the Faculty of Computer Sciences, Anton Kolesov and Denis Dushkin). These three teams received 3rd degree certificates.

The participation of our teams in the programming world championship for student’s teams became possible because of the sponsorship of the Reksoft company and the participants of the competition express their gratitude and deep appreciation to it.

We congratulate our students on their success in the quarter-final and wish them good luck in the semi-final!
