On 8th June, a delegation from the University of Burgos (Universidad de Burgos, Spain) visited Voronezh State University. The delegation included the Rector of the University Alfonso Murillo Villar and a Vice Rector Elena Vicente Domingo.
During the meeting the parties discussed the possibilities for cooperation between VSU and the University of Burgos.
'Voronezh State University has been conducting Iberian research since the 1960s when there were a lot of lecturers from Spain who later became the founders of the Spanish section at the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology of Voronezh State University. This visit is very important to us, as we are enhancing our techniques of teaching Russian as a foreign language and are interested in promoting the Russian language in Spain as a part of online learning in particular. At the moment VSU is implementing a number of Tempus, Erasmus+ and DAAD projects. Our cooperation in this field can be really successful – we arrange for the exchange of lecturers and students,' said the VSU Rector Professor Dmitry Endovitsky in his welcome speech.
'The University of Burgos is a young university with about 9,000 students. The history of the university as an independent university goes back to 1994. VSU is our first Russian partner. The main area of investigation, in collaboration with the University of Leon and Valladolid, is human evolution. The principal fields of cooperation with Voronezh State University we are interested in are online learning techniques development (we have a number of programmes that can involve online teaching from VSU), Russian language teaching, Erasmus projects, and double degree Master's programmes, especially in law and business,' said the Rector of the University of Burgos Alfonso Murillo Villar.
The VSU Rector thanked the guests and offered to work out cooperation projects under the signed cooperation agreement.
After the meeting the guests visited the VSU History and Book Museums.
