From 1 December 2013 until 30 November 2016, Voronezh State University has been involved in the implementation of an international Tempus project on the Evaluation of Quality of Cooperation in Education Ecosystem as a Mechanism for Building Professional Competencies (E3M). It is aimed at developing collaboration between higher educational institutions and organizations representing the labour market for graduates, as well as at resolving issues connected with the reformation and modernization of education, particularly the introduction of the competency-based approach to education.
As part of the project implementation, on 18–23 May 2015 a team of VSU representatives including E.M. Aristova (lecturer of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics and international activity coordinator at the Faculty), E.L. Shishkina (Associate Professor of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics), and A.A. Krylovetskiy (Associate Professor of the Faculty of Computer Sciences) visited the JAMK University of Applied Sciences in Jyväskylä (Finland) with the purpose of taking part in the meeting and methodology seminar for the Е3М project participants, as well as developing international contacts and exchange of international experience.
During the trip, the VSU team visited a number of Finnish companies, in particular ООО Jykes regional development company, Sports Business School, the School of Technologies, and the Institute of Bioeconomics. The business meetings explored potential ways of cooperation between universities and employers that have been developed in Finland.
At the methodology seminar on the project, the participants discussed possible action plans for developing existing patterns of collaboration with labour market companies, examined methods of finding new forms of cooperation, and addressed issues relating to all the reporting procedures under the E3M project.
Also, each of the Russian partners of the international Tempus project on the Evaluation of Quality of Cooperation in Education Ecosystem as a Mechanism for Building Professional Competencies gave a brief presentation of the project results achieved so far, and submitted the information regarding the next steps in project implementation at their university to the Board.
It must be noted that, starting in September 2015, under the international E3M Tempus project, the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics is to modernize its Master's degree programme in Parallel Programming and Concurrent Computing, whereas the Faculty of Computer Sciences will be updating its Bachelor's degree programme in Information Technologies in order to expand the university's collaboration with potential employers.
The visit resulted in the participants from Russia gaining more expertise in cooperating with prospective employers. Additionally, at the meeting, the project participants discussed specific issues related to enhancing cooperation in Russia: conducting joint research projects, making joint publication in leading journals recommended by the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles, as well as expanding academic exchange between universities.
