VSU announced as the leading innovative university of the Voronezh Region in 2015

On February 8th, the award ceremony of the annual innovation projects competition Innovation Cup was held at the Voronezh Region Administration. VSU researchers were one of the most active participants of the Cup. The awards ceremony was attended by representatives of Voronezh government, heads of major regional production enterprises and leading universities and competition jury experts. The Governor of the Voronezh Region Aleksey Gordeev congratulated the winners.

The objective of the contest is to encourage innovative activity in the universities of the Voronezh Region and develop innovative projects that can be commercialised and implemented by the region’s enterprises. The contest also aims to find talented young leaders among students, postgraduates and young scientists.

This year the jury had to assess 259 projects submitted by researchers from nine universities. The first place went to Alexey Maximov, lecturer at the Department of Digital Technologies of the Faculty of Computer Sciences, for his project “Full-scale production of the rehabilitation system Breath&Play for children enduring pulmonary pathology”, the second - to Sergei Shvetsov, researcher at the Voronezh Public Fire Service Institute of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, for the project of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly technologies for wet-heat treatment of food plant raw material. The third place was given to Anna Zenischeva, Senior Research Assistant at the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Faculty of Chemistry (Full-time hi-tech production of innovative water-retaining supersorbent Solid Water) and Igor Korovchenko, Associate professor at the Department of Electronics of the Faculty of Physics (Creating an enterprise for implementing various methods of enhancing the resistance of Electronic Component Base to modern and future types of noise). A support grant was also received by Gevor Grogoryan, lecturer at the Department of Experimental Physics of the Faculty of Physics, for the project “Producing magnetic nanostructured transition metals silicides with the optical magnetic reversal effect for the new generation memory units”.

Voronezh State University was pronounced to be the best innovative university of the Voronezh Region in 2015 and awarded the Cup and a certificate for 750 thousand roubles.

– “It is a great honour for us to get the title of the best innovative university of the region, especially today, on the Day of Russian Science. It is also very encouraging for our researchers, as this is the first time we have acquired such a status. We’ve been working successfully on the federal level, taking part in various innovation programmes and competitions, but it is also very important to see which university determines the development of the region’s economy in the sphere of innovation. I am glad for our young scientists. Most of our innovation projects can already be implemented and the university has all the intellectual property rights officially registered. We hope that the success at the Innovation Cup will encourage our researchers to continue their work on new projects”, – said VSU Rector, Professor Dmitry Endovitsky.

– “Our rehabilitation system allows children with pulmonary pathologies to do breathing exercises in the game-mode. This makes the process easier and can be used further, if the child has any problems in the future. Our system is cheaper than the analogous system. Winning the contest enables us to continue our research, commercialise our project and, hopefully, make a lot of children happier,” – said Alexey Maximov, the winner of the contest.
