On 31 July, the Coordination committee for contests for grants of the President of the Russian Federation aimed at the development of civil society finalised the results of the first contest. Among its winners is a joint project of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics of Voronezh State University, the Experimental Technical School, and Angstrem – the regional technology festival ROBOART.
It received 90.75 points considerably exceeding the 65 point minimum and took third place among the winning projects in the area of science and education.
The VSU Rector, Dmitry Endovitsky, emphasised that working with gifted children is crucial for the university. He also added that representatives of the German telecommunication company Deutsche Telecom AG also got very interested in this activity. Children can join the Centre of Robotics at VSU starting from the age of 6. Here they learn a foreign language, study mathematics (at a higher level than at school), basics of programming, and 3D modelling. The fact that the event received the grant of the President proves that VSU’s involvement in teaching gifted children was recognised at the highest level.
In 2018, ROBOART will be held in Voronezh State University for the fourth time. Every year it expands geographically. This year, ROBOART gathered gifted children from all Russia. Among its participants were 1,500 people from 13 Russian regions and the number of visitors was over 10,000 people.
