Scholars from our university do research in a Berlin laboratory

On 18 to 30 August, VSU scholars continued their studies using the megascience device and the source of synchrotron radiation BESSY II at Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin (Germany). The experiments were part of the cooperation with the Russian-German laboratory, joint Uppsala-Berlin laboratory, Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology, and the Baltic Sea Network "NanoPhoto". As of November 2016, VSU has been a member of Baltic Sea Network "NanoPhoto – Nanotechnology meets (Bio)Photonics", alongside with more that twenty universities and research institutions of Russia, Lithuania, Finland, Germany, France, Sweden, and other countries.

The program included doing 24/7 high-resolution research in the field of the atomic and electronic structure of functional nano- and biomaterials in collaboration with colleagues from the Uppsala University (Sweden), Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin (Germany), the Institute of Living Systems of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University (Russia), and the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology (Jena, Germany).
