Between 4 and 8 October, a series of educational, research and methodology events dedicated to the Russian language, literature, culture, and history was held in Kazakhstan. VSU was represented by Tatiana Ternova, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Philology of Voronezh State University, Sergey Larin, Associate professor at the Department of Foreign Literature, and Anna Frolova, Associate professor at the Department of Russian Literature of XX–XXI Centuries.
The events began in Astana on 4 October. School No. 37 held a celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Russian realist writer Ivan Turgenev and the 215th anniversary of the poet and philosopher Fedor Tyutchev. Tatiana Ternova and Anna Frolova organised a workshop dedicated to the literary works by Turgenev and a literature game “Tyutchev's tradition in the Russian literature”.
On 5 October, the Teacher's Day, the Centre of Russian Science and Culture in Astana held a festive event dedicated to the 190th anniversary of Leo Tolstoy. Teachers of Russian language and literature participated in the discussion “Leo Tolstoy and school – regional studies (Museum and school - integration prospects. Elective course as an education method for schools)”. The whole event was moderated by Tatiana Ternova and the discussion was coordinated by Anna Frolova.
Between 5 and 6 October, our researchers visited Pushkin Regional Scientific Library in Shymkent. Sergey Larin gave a series of talks for the philology scholars from Kazakhstan about the latest trends in the studies of Leo Tolstoy’s and Nikolay Chernyshevsky’s heritage. Anna Frolova and Tatiana Ternova presented their methodological approaches to studying the works by Leo Tolstoy, Ivan Turgenev, and Fedor Tyutchev.
On 8 October, Anna Frolova and Tatiana Ternova visited the Scientific Library of Karagandy State University. They gave lectures on the literary works by Leo Tolstoy, Ivan Turgenev, Fedor Tyutchev, and Alexander Solzhenitsyn, whose 100th anniversary is also celebrated in 2018, and presented their own methodological guidance. The lectures were attended by the staff of the Faculty of Philology, students, and librarians.
All the events were organised by Rossotrudnichestvo and OOO “Otsenka kachestva obrazovaniya” (Education Quality Assessment).
