Vice Rector for Research and Innovations and the Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Soil Sciences, Vasily Popov, and the coordinator of Erasmus+ project “Human Resource Development and the Cooperation between Urban and Rural Areas for Sustainable Development of Metropolises” and the associate professor of the Department of Ecology and Land Resources of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, Lilia Alayeva, participated in the first coordination meeting that took place in the University of Tuscia (Viterbo, Italy).
The project is aimed at creating new opportunities for students from the partner countries and their integration into international research and business cooperation in the area of sustainable urban development. Among the participants were partner from Russia (Voronezh State University, Timiryazev Russian State Agrarian University, and Peoples' Friendship University of Russia), Europe (Wageningen University, the Netherlands, the University of Göttingen, Germany, and the University of Tuscia, Italy), and China (Nanjing Forestry University and Fujian Agricultural and Forestry University) partners.
The participants of the meeting developed a project agreement regarding the implementation of an international programme, a plan of actions and agreed on the list of equipment required for the project. They also agreed on the schedule of meetings between the managers of the project.
The highlight of the event was the meeting of the participants with Professor Riccardo Valentini who is involved in specifying risks of global climate changes caused by anthropogenic factors. In 2007, Professor was the Nobel peace prize winner as a member of the Intergovernmental Expert Group.
