On 3 April 2018, Voronezh State University made a cooperation agreement with the leading Russian technological company Mail.Ru Group. The document was signed during the visit of the company’s representatives – University Relations Director, Segey Mardanov, and the Head of the Voronezh Mail.Ru Group office, Sergey Khatenkov.
In the nearest future, VSU and Mail.Ru Group are planning to work with students, to hold educational conferences and seminars, and to advance the qualifications of the university’s teaching staff. Students have a chance to do practice training in the Voronezh office of the company and to become a member of the internship programme. In April, a new educational course starts – “Testing Game Development Projects” and later, another one will be launched – “The Development of Unity Games”.
‘The agreement with a major Russian IT company opens a lot of opportunities for students and the university as a whole. Mail.Ru Group is a leader in terms of resources, potential, and their audience. We have gained a reliable partner and this cooperation will make it possible to advance IT education at our university. This is just the beginning of our cooperation. I am sure we will support and develop it further in the future,’ said the Rector of VSU, Dmitry Endovitsky.
‘Mail.Ru Group has become an expert on the educational IT market over the past six years. We have already developed an educational online platform for programmers called GeekBrains, three specialisations for the Coursera platform, we have hundreds hours of lectures on the YouTube channel “Technostream” and five offline educational technological projects with the top national universities (Bauman Moscow State Technical University, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics of Moscow State University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University). Over 2,500 students are annually enrolled in these programmes and the competition is 10 applicants per place. And VSU has now joined these universities. We have already invented a name for the project – “Technoproject@Voronezh” said the University Relations Director at Mail.Ru Group, Segey Mardanov.
