Defence ceremony of qualification works of the first graduates of the Executive MBA programme is held at the university

On 5 April, the defence ceremony of qualification works of the first graduates of the master’s programme “Executive MBA” (“General Management”) was held in the conference hall of the main building of Voronezh State University.

This programme is implemented in VSU in cooperation with ISC Paris Business School. The cooperation agreement was signed by the two universities in February 2016. It signified the international recognition of the university's academic reputation and the quality of education at VSU. ISC Paris Business School has been offering the Executive MBA programme for a number of years and it is accredited by the international organisation AACSB. As a result of successful accreditation of the lecturers of the VSU Business School, the institute delegated to our university the right to implement the joint academic programme. The programme aims at improving the professional competence of the top managers, learning new skills, and encouraging further development.

The duration of the programme is one year. The first term the students attend evening classes. Students from other cities and towns have an option to participate in extramural studies. The second term involves practical training at enterprises. After successfully defending their projects, the students of the programme can receive an Executive MBA diploma from ISC Paris Business School and an Executive MBA diploma from the VSU Business School.

The first students of the programme were 11 employees representing different small and large businesses in Voronezh. In accordance with the requirements of the programme the projects were defended in Russian and were evaluated by the examination commission comprised of representatives from VSU and ISC Paris Business School. The French delegation was headed by the Director of the MBA Programme Department at ISC Paris Business School, Charles Berger.

In his welcoming speech the Head of the International Cooperation Administration, Oleg Belenov, pointed out how prestigious it is to have a diploma which is recognised both in Russia and in Europe.

‘You are the first students in Voronezh and the Russian Federation as a whole who are going to get such a diploma. You are here and it proves that we made the right choice when we were choosing a partner for this programme’. ‘I was very glad to come here and be with you when you defend your projects,’ said Charles Berger.

The defence ceremony was quite dynamic. The students talked about the projects that they had conducted. The results of their research are application-oriented. At the moment, they are introducing their projects in the production process at their companies. The presented works were highly praised by Russian and French members of the examination commission.

The defence ceremony was organised by the coordinator of the project – the Director of the Regional French Centre and the Head of the Department of French Philology of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology, Elena Alexeyeva, and the Director of the VSU Business School, Svetlana Klinova.

Elena Alexeyeva said that lecturers of VSU Business School will offer graduates of the programme consultations regarding the implementation of their projects.

As part of their visit, the French representatives, Charles Berger, and the manager of the Business Bridge project, Natalia Lanceraux, and Elena Alexeyeva discussed possibilities of further cooperation.
