Francophonie Day in Voronezh

The regional Centre for Cooperation between Russia and France at Voronezh State University annually organises a students’ festival and a contest dedicated to the celebration of the International Francophonie Day in Voronezh. This year, it took place in the auditorium of the Nikitin Regional Scientific Library. Over 70 students from the leading Voronezh universities demonstrated their talents and love for the French language and culture. Among the participants were representatives of Voronezh State University, Voronezh State Art Institute, Voronezh State University of Engineering Technologies, Burdenko Voronezh State Medical University, Voronezh State Technical University, and Voronezh State Pedagogical University, and Voronezh Institute of High Technologies.

International guests – representatives of the countries that are members of the Francophonie – also took part in the festival. Guests from Morocco – the Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Administration, Otzman Idrissi Erkik, and a lecturer at the Faculty of Marketing Studies, Dr Assia Zeru, – presented International Open Sup'Management University (Fez, Morocco). They welcomed the audience and told them about Morocco. A guest form Congo, a student from Voronezh Institute of High Technologies, Joko Lea Maza, demonstrated her vocal talent.

The contest had six nominations: “Song in French – Solo”, “Song in French – Duet”. “Song in French – Chorus Singing”, “Poem in French”, and “Performance in French”.

Students recited poems by famous French poets – Charles Baudelaire, Alphonse de Lamartine, Charles de Lisle, Jacques Prévert, Victor Hugo, and Louis Aragon.

The audience and the jury were enchanted by the sense of humour and the acting talent of the students who presented plays in the French language and by the unforgettable emotional performances of modern French songs.

The prize-winners of the festival were awarded with certificates.
