VSU enters the top 30 of the best world universities

International information group "Interfaks" published the results of 9th National ranking of universities according to the results of 2017/2018 academic year. Every year, Voronezh State University is presented in the ranking among the best universities of Russia. This year, our university demonstrated excellent results and took 26th place among the leading Russian educational institutions. VSU takes 10th place for the parameter "Education" and 28th place for the parameter "University brand". The ranking also analysed research activity and internationalisation. For the research parameter our university has improved its positions and has moved 9 points up compared to the previous year and took 22nd place among the best universities of Russia. VSU's internationalisation also received a high mark from experts. For this parameter, our university has moved 8 points up and took 38th place. Our university entered the top 20 universities for the following parameters: organisation of work with the talented youth (15th place), organisation of cooperation with international partners (13th place), and implementation of programmes in foreign languages (17th place).

It should be noted that VSU is the only university in the region that was included in the top 50 of the National ranking.

The ranking data is based on published materials about the activities of universities, profile data gathered by Interfaks experts, the results of university monitoring by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, and the results of the analysis conducted with the help of the system of comprehensive news analysis (SKAN-Interfaks).

One of the aims of the annual survey "National university ranking" is to find an adequate evaluation method for the activities of a modern university which would correspond to the best world rankings.

Overall, the ranking evaluated 288 Russian universities, including 29 national research universities, 10 federal universities, 33 flagship universities, and 21 universities that participate in the project 5–100. The ranking also included 7 leading non-state universities.

"This year, the number of the participants included in the ranking has increased by 23 universities. However, we should admit that we do not aim at wide coverage, we purposefully study each university in isolation," said the editor of the National university ranking, Alexey Chaplygin.
