On the same level as leading European universities: Our students are among the winners of the international IT Challenge competition

Atos concluded the results of the IT Challenge competition for international students. The winners received an award at the award ceremony which took place in Paris and was headed by the general director of Atos, Thierry Breton. Also, a special prize was awarded for promotion on social networks.

The team from Voronezh State University won second place. The project successfully competed with projects by teams from the leading European universities. For the first time in seven years a Russian team has become a finalist team of the international IT Challenge competition. The VSU team presented to the jury a chatbot application that helps users find new exhibitions in the city and to buy tickets using the application. It also gives information about pictures and their authors using the image recognition function.

The students won € 5,000 for their efforts. They also got an opportunity to complete an internship in Atos and to develop their project further.

“I am impressed by the skills of the winners. Artificial intelligence technologies are revolutionising all areas of economy and society. One of Atos’ values is to create innovative solutions that meet people’s needs,” said the general director of Atos, Thierry Breton, at the award ceremony.

This year, 204 teams from 27 countries submitted their applications for the competition. The first place was taken by a team from the Columbia University (USA), Voronezh State University was second, and students from the University of Texas at Dallas (USA) were third.
