On 16 September, a qualifying round of a quarter-final of the Southern subregion of Russia of the student’s teams’ world programming championship ICPC (АСМ) 2018–2019 took place at Voronezh State University. Over 300 teams took part in the event which was held in 20 cities.
At VSU the competition was held in the laboratories of the Faculty of Computer Sciences. 30 teams competed with each other, 8 teams from Lipetsk State Technical University and 22 students’ teams from VSU (one team was out of competition).
According to the rules, the 40 teams with the best results in the qualifying round entered the quarter-finals, including 4 teams from VSU: a team of students from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics and the Faculty of Computer Sciences (Alexey Zolotukhin, Yaroslav Tishin, and Alexandre Nogikh) and two teams of students from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics (Artem Oivovarov, Mikhail Golovay, Lubov Lesnykh, Olga Shishkina, Anna Kosobutskaya, and Viktor Kiselev) and a team from the Faculty of Computer Sciences (Andrey Borodin, Nikita Berezhnov, and Ivan Nikonov). What is more, thanks to the success of the VSU teams in last year's competitions our university has the right to send two more teams to participate in the quarter-finals this year.
The quarter-final of the world championship in the Southern subregion will take place on 15–16 October in Chernyshevsky Saratov National Research State University.
