VSU’s 100th anniversary (33)

VSU was rated in the Top-20 of Russian classical universities by the quality of admission

The Higher School of Economics has published the results of the performance monitoring of Russian universities by the quality of admission. The experts analysed the results of the admission campaign for bachelor’s and specialist's degree programmes. The quality of admission was assessed by the average Russian State Exam score of the first-year students, i.e. using objective criteria (exam and competition results), which are the same for all universities. The data was taken from the official websites of the admission boards of universities containing information about the candidates and admissions. The ranking does not take into account the results of any exams held by universities as well as any bonuses provided by universities. The scores of the winners of academic competitions for schoolchildren who enrolled in universities without taking any exams are considered as 100 (similar to the ranking of university performance published by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Russian Federation). In 2018, the data used for the assessment was for the first time verified by the databases of the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science (Rosobrnadzor) and the Ministry of Science and Education of the Russian Federation. This allowed the experts to verify the correctness of the data. The ranking assessed the total average state exam scores and the average exam scores for separate fields of education.

The total number of Russian universities included in the ranking is 682. Among the 113 classical universities VSU takes 16th position. The average scores of VSU for separate fields of education (state-funded admission to classical universities) are also quite good.
