Between 27 and 29 November, International scientific conference “Innovation Driven Economic Growth in Asia focusing on India” took place in Goa University (India). The event was held by Zaheer Science Foundation under the support of UNESCO and Goa University. The conference gathered over 50 scientists from India, Russia, Finland, Australia, and Kuwait.
The delegation of Voronezh State University included staff members from the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology, and Tourism, the Faculty of Economics, and the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences: Sergey Eprintsev, Associate Professor at the Department of Geoecology and Environmental Monitoring, Mikhail Syromyatnikov, Associate Professor at the Department of Genetics, Cytology, and Bioengineering, Irina Stchepina, Associate Professor at the Department of Information Technology and Mathematical Methods for Economics, and Maria Solosina, staff member at the Interfaculty Research Laboratory for Economics and Management. The project was coordinated by the joint laboratory of VSU and Central Economic Mathematical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and was headed by Irina Stchepina.
VSU and the Zaheer Science Foundation have been involved in cooperation since 2015. The institutions have signed a memorandum of cooperation as a part of which our scientists were invited to take part in the conference. In his welcoming speech, Professor Mohsin U. Khan, the Chair of Zaheer Science Foundation, said that “in the current context of global science development it is very important to create cross-sector and international research teams. They can prompt the solution of such urgent problems in India as recycling rubbish, water purification, developing alternative sources of energy, and the introduction of innovations into various areas of life.” The scientists of Voronezh State University made reports about projects developed by them and in collaboration with their colleagues from different faculties and discussed opportunities for cooperation with international partners. The Russian delegation also had a tour at the Faculty of Biology of Goa University.
