Every term, international students from all over the world come to study at Voronezh State University. Most of them are visiting Russia and Voronezh for the first time. This term we have representatives from Germany, Turkey, Spain, China, Japan, Estonia, Austria, the USA, Great Britain, Greece, and France.
On the last day of winter, 28th February, a welcome party for interns was held at Voronezh State University. Its goal was to help Russian and international students to meet each other in a relaxing atmosphere.
On 6 March, “Language tandem” was held in the main building of Voronezh State University. “Language tandem” is an event which helps delve into cultures and languages of different countries and learn the most interesting things from native speakers firsthand. The volunteers of the club told the participants about the event and tried to explain the meaning of the trickiest phrases in the Russian language. Then the audience was divided into groups and students from Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Syria, Turkey, and Uzbekistan told them about their country, peculiarities of their language, and answered the questions.
Buddy Club VSU is a community which have been created to help international students adapt in a new environment and feel they are a part of the university and Voronezh. The goal of Buddy Club volunteers is to help the interns adapt during the first week of their stay in Russia. They meet them at the airport or railway station, help them find accommodation, and solve different everyday life problems. They also help organise events which contribute to intercultural communication between students, involve international interns in Voronezh student life, and teach them about cultural peculiarities of different countries.
The international students will have a chance to take part in guided tours, cinema club sessions, literature meetings, and many other interesting events.
