On 22 May, students and lecturers of the Department of Ecology and Land Resources of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of Voronezh State University took part in the 12th Voronezh Industrial Forum held at the “Maslovskiy” Industrial Park.
Representatives of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences participated in a round table discussion on the transition to a new waste management system organised by the Department of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Voronezh Region. The agenda included a number of issues concerning the organisation and functioning of the local waste management system.
Head of the Department of Ecology and Land Resources of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, Professor Tatiana Devyatova, gave a talk on “The role of the professional community in the development of educational and professional standards in the field of ecology, and environmental management”. She emphasised that specialists and employers should work in close collaboration to develop professional standards in this field of ecology.
Of great interest were presentations made by the vice-director of the Department of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Voronezh Region, Galina Vorobieva, and head of the Voronezh Department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Environmental Management, Vyacheslav Peregudov. Students also appreciated the value of the reports made by the head of the Organisation, Law and Human Resources Office of the Department of Housing, Utilities and Energy of the Voronezh Region, Sergey Trofimov, and Director General of OAO Elektrotechnologii, Mikhail Batischev. The round table also discussed the system of municipal solid waste management in various municipal districts of the Voronezh Region, studying the case of Liskinsky and Rossoshansky districts.
The forum gave our students an opportunity to learn about the most urgent environmental and waste management problems in the Voronezh Region and ask questions to representatives of environmental organisations.
