On 5 September, as is traditional, musicians of Voronezh Symphony Orchestra of the Concert Hall congratulated the administration, the lecturers, and the students of Voronezh State University with the beginning of the academic year. They played well-known classical musical pieces, jazz improvisations, film score, folk songs, and popular modern music. Although Voronezh Youth Symphony Orchestra changed its name to Voronezh Concert Hall Symphony Orchestra, for Voronezh State University it is still the same.
“Dear colleagues, we enter the second centenary. We are full of energy and creative ideas. I congratulate you with the beginning of the academic year and wish you good health, welfare, and the fulfilment of both your most ambitious and more homely aspirations. Viva university!” said VSU Rector, Dmitry Endovitsky, in his welcoming speech.
“I would like to say how happy we are to meet you again. This is a wonderful tradition which is becoming even more popular each year. This hall today is full of people who have a fine appreciation of art: poetry, music, and literature. You can’t deceive your audience, especially if it consists of academics. I am especially happy to start our concert today with a Mozart overture. His music is the very soul of freedom and enlightenment, and that is exactly what you dedicate your life to”, said Professor Bronislav Tabachnikov, art historian and honoured worker of higher education of the Russian Federation.
